Temple trip in Albuquerque

We went on a temple trip yesterday to albuquerque.  But wait! didn’t we go to Disney World this summer? Why didn’t you post something about that?!?!  Well, the answer is we were too tired when we got back, and we wanted to post about this trip while still fresh in mind.

The trip from Eliza’s perspective:

Umm, we went swimming and watched TV and we ate some popcorn and, and ,and we sleeped.  (Lillia is laughed). um we . . . Lillia, stop laughing.  And Lillia stand on the TV.  we went upstairs and we all went downstairs and gabriel ate oatmeal and we ate sausages and doughnuts and muffins for breakfast.  We packed the stuff in the car and went to the children’s museum.  THat’s all.

Lillia’s turn:

First we slept in the hotel in nice comfy beds.  and Gabriel loved the beds, he kept laying his head on them.  then when we woke up we went downstairs to get some stuffybreak.  We had waffles, sauasages, blueberry muffins, mini breaklfast doughnuts. and some juice.  Gabriel had cheerios and bananas for breakfast.  then we went swimming in the super cold freezing cold pool. daddy jumped in. I bet if gabriel jumped in, he would turn into a popsicle.  then we went into the hot tub, then dried ourselves off and went to the dollar store with Mommy.  I picked a squishy hotdog and a heart stuffy.  Liza got shopkins and a princess coloring book.  then we walked a little bit around the temple.and the we went to the children’s museum.  My favorite thing there was that we drew pictures and made our own animations.  thjen we went to this cool shark restaurant. Liza and I ordered french fries and grilled cheese.  and for dessert we each had one small piece of tiny cakes.  But the coolest thing of all were the sharks! two of them were just sittin around.  like duuuuuhhhh. another one was making the creepiest smile in our lives.  we also saw this moray eel talking to this brown shark.  and then we saw a sting ray and a turtle.  just when the right moment was right, giggle giggle, we saw the turtle poop sooo much! eeeewww!  then after we were done eating, we went all the way back to Las cruces.  I love going to Albuquerque!  My favorite thing of all was spending time with my family. OK, thats it.  Oh and one more thing, the morey eel said to the tiny brown shark, “Look at that big white shark.”  Eel, “Iknow, he’s such a showoff, isn’t he. By the way, do my spots lookj more like leopard spots of giraffe spots?”  Brown shark, “Meh, they look more like GIraffe spots.”    ;

Dad filling in the gaps: The Children’s museum was surprisingly fun and probably had over 100 exhibits for kids.  We used shadows to measure the distance around the earth, made giant bubbles, played with a thermal camera, and flew an airplane in a wind tunnel. As for the shark restaurant, there is a cafe in Albuquerque that shares a wall with the shark tank at the aquarium.  The food was average and a bit overpriced, but view was amazing.  See the pictures.  The turtle did cloud up the tank for a few minutes with his Feces.  It was a lot of poop, and was probably the highlight of the kids’ day.   Thanks for tuning in!

Janell’s Birthday and Elephant Butt

butt lake

For Janell’s birthday we went to Elephant Butte reservoir and rented a Pontoon Boat. (yes that is the real name, and no we could not resist the photo opportunity.)  We cruised down the lake at about 15 MPH and sent the water birds diving for cover.  We were surprised by how beautiful and vast the lake is.  We sped down the reservoir for over an hour and could not see the end.  Later we found out that the thing is 40 miles long, so we were nowhere close.  To see a video, CLick this link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/t2msSuA5jqEhrvsJ7

Next we went to a famous restaurant, called Sparkys on the way back, in Hatch, NM.  Hatch is the Chile pepper capital of the world so, of course, everything had chillies on it and burned us alive. Heat aside, it was pretty good.

Janell also requested an “incredibles” themed party, so I ordered matching shirts and we went to see the movie on Saturday.  Lillia decorated an incredibles-themed cake.  Happy birthday Janell!

Father’s Day

Look what the I got on Fathers day!

IMG_0768IMG_0769At the Chihuahua Desert Park today, Lillia, Eliza and I snuck up on a fat horned lizard while he sat around and ate ants.  While we snuck up on him, some big fat ants snuck up on Lillia and bit her ankles.  She screamed and we had to retreat, but we had fun anyway.

Friday, Lillia Ran 10 laps around the track. She only stopped to walk a few times. as a reward she got a frosty and a cookie from Wendy’s.
Gabriel goes into pushup position whenever on his stomach. He then pushes himself backwards across the floor. He will figure it out eventually.
The kids got me a fun shirt for fathers day.

Thanks for visiting.

Camping at Aguirre Springs

Hello all,

Here are some pictures from our recent camping trip to Aguirre springs.  The girls had a great time.  Lillia spent most of the time chasing lizards around camp.  The Temple is the Albuquerque temple.  Had my training there for work.

What to say. . .I took Lillia to Mexico as a reward her for practicing her Spanish for 10 days in a row.  We went to the Mission Plaza Mall and took pictures.  The mall looked very modern and featured more entertainment than shopping opportunities.  It had an ice skating rink with a sledding run and rock wall, three arcades, including one with carnival rides, a movie theater, and a trampoline park.  No one there spoke English so we got some good practice speaking Spanish, especially when my GPS stopped working and we got lost and had to ask for directions a few times, in a very seedy part of Juarez.  FYI, your phone will have service as long you stay within a mile or two of the border.  Beyond that . . . not so much.

In any case, all’s well that ends well and we got to meet both the simpsons and the Joker (the scary Heath Ledger one).

Thanksgiving 2017

What a great thanksgiving we had.  We celebrated Lillia’s baptism, Eliza’s birthday, and Thanksgiving  with tons of family who came to celebrate along with us.  Thank you sooo much to everyone who came to make it such a special occasion.  It was a little cramped, but we hope everyone had fun anyway.  I realized that while pictures were taken of the entire group, I didn’t take any of them.  Oh well.  I just have a few pictures from white sands and the Baylor canyon hike.  Thanks to Danny for the slow motion dune-jumping vids.  If anyone has more to feature please send them to me and I will be happy to show them.  Thanks for visiting everyone and have a merry Christmas!

Welcome Gabriel Leon Robinson!!!

Hi everybody.  Janell here.  on October 17, 2017, we welcomed a new member of our family: Baby boy Robinson.  It took us 3 days after his birth to come up with his name.  With our daughters we knew their names months before they were born.  with Gabriel it was a bit harder.  We like the name Gabriel, and Atticus from “To Kill a Mocking Bird” and Leon after Darren’s Grandfather.

Any way he weighed 5 pounds 14 ounces and was 18.5 inches long.  I had a big knot in his umbilical cord, which may explain his lower birth weight.  He was a scheduled C- section.  Darren was with me for the birth and my mom came to help me with the girls.  We were in the hospital for 3 days before going home.  It was the first time the baby was actually with us in the hospital.  The other two times, our babies were in the nicu while I recovered.

I feel like I could get up and move a lot faster after this one.  I also felt like I had more side effects, like swelling, head aches and gas pain by my collar bone.  But within a week I felt almost like my old self.

I am so happy to have a son, and that he is so healthy!  I have been nervous to have a little boy since I grew up with sisters.  So raising a boy is a little intimidating. ( I know that Darren is such an amazing dad and is so excited to have a son- it has been really cute to watch him interact with him and talk to him about all the things he will teach him as his dad ; wresting, track, camping, hiking…etc….)

I am so grateful for the little miracle that Gabriel is. After 3 miscarriages this was my last time trying before I was deciding to be grateful for the two girls I have and to move on with my life. I had alot of ultrasounds with him and during each one I was just waiting for the ultra sound technician to tell me something that was wrong but they kept telling me that he was going to be a small baby but that he looked totally healthy.

Thanks goes to my mom, my amazing husband and last but not least Leslie Knope for helping me survive the last two weeks. ;)   I am grateful but nervous to be a mom of 3 ( many people say that 3 is the “tipping point”)- you move from “man on man” defense to “zone” and mothers of three kids report being more stressed out than mothers with 4…5…6.. kids….I think researchers chalk up this phenomenon to the idea that if you have more then 3 kids you just chalk up chaos as a normal part of life and you learn as a parent to just “roll with the punches”…hahah

Eliza is my natural little mommy and loves to touch and “take care” of Gabriel. Eliza tells me at least 3-4 times a day, “mom- just make sure you take care of that baby.” She is very concerned about him and that he is happy. Lillia has taken a bit more convining to get her to warm up to Gabriel and convince her that she won’t break him- haha. They both are great big sisters and love having someone so cute and small in the house. They have been playing “babies” together none stop for the last week.
